A dark shape slid out of the elders den, carrying a ball of moss. The small black cat spat out the soggy ball and trotted over to where extra moss was kept. His name was Cricketpaw and he was an apprentice of EarthClan. He padded at the piles of soft plants, and, dragging one out, rolled it into another ball and headed back across the clearing. Cricketpaw was doing his daily chores, waiting for more training later in the day.

Oakstar padded over from HighBoulder, the grogginess that losing a life had given him had disappeared rapidly, and he was attentive once more. "Hello Cricketpaw. Would you like to go training in the Plains?" he meowed, his spotted pelt stifling warm in the sun's rays.

Cricketpaw dropped the ball of moss he was carrying. He looked up at his leader and mentor. "Sure! Should I finish my chores first or...?" he trailed off, looking up at his mentor for instructions. He always wanted to do right, and wanted to impress the leader. Maybe one day he would be deputy!
Just then a streak of white flashed in front of his nose and Cricketpaw flinched, squeezing his eyes shut. He heard a soft mew as he peaked open one eye and spotted his sister playing with the ball of moss he had been taking to the elder's den. "Can I come with you guys?!?!" she mewed, bouncing up excitedly, the moss ball forgoten.

"Go ahead and finish the elder's den. Sparkpaw, why don't you help? Then you can both come and train." Oakstar purred, amused by the two siblings. His vision was clouded by sadness as he remembered how he and Snowflower were so close.

Sparkpaw squealed and batted the moss ball, heading toward the elders den. She was excited. ((Mentor's name here)) never took her anywhere fun. It was always, "Help the elders this,' or 'hunt for the queens' that. Well at least her leader appreciated her!
Cricketpaw was a little slower to rush off than his sister. He dipped his head to his leader, then started to follow Sparkpaw. Then he noticed the pained look on his mentor's face. He stopped, cocked his head to one side, and meowed, "Are you alright, Oakstar?" He was worried about his leader.

"Hm? Oh yes, I'm fine. Thank you Cricketpaw." meowed Oakstar, using his "Happy and Cheery" tones.

Mudstreak came into the clearing, followed by Eaglethunder and Nightstorm. "Where is Pepperpaw?" muttered Nightstorm. She had been looking around for her apprentice. Eaglethunder shrugged. "So how do you, like being a warrior?" he asked Mudstreak. "It's ok, I guess. The only ones who can boss me around are you and Oakstar."

Oakstar had overheard Mudstreak's comment and chuckled. "And you must mind your elders and senior warriors as well," he meowed, smiling at the new warrior. "And don't forget, you, Honeyfrost, and Flamewhisper must guard camp tonight."

Mudstreak sighed, "I had forgotten about that." His eyes glimmered, "I already had to do that when I was an apprentice. The only difference between my being a warrior and an apprentice is that you don't have to train me."

Oakstar laughed. "Yes. At least that is over. Cricketpaw is at least calmer than you." he joked.

Mudstreak pretended that that upset him. "Was I really that laidback?" he asked. He sighed, and looked over at Eaglethunder, who tried to stifle a smile. "I try my hardest to be a pain and this is what happens," he said to Eaglethunder mornfully. Nightstorm snorted and went to look for her apprentice.

Oakstar chuckled, shaking his head. The two had trained what seemed like a long time, so the two were pretty close. "Oh yes. You were so laidback, that's why I now I have back problems." sighed Oakstar, limping around to show his "exhaustion".

Mudstreak tried to keep a straight face without much success. "I guess that's why I was never able to find you when I DID want to train!"
