Oakleaf padded over slowly. He gazed up at Moonfalls in fear as the prospect of becoming a leader hit him as hard as the water hitting the large pool below. He glanced at Oceanflower and lay at the edge of the clear water. Slowly, he reached out his tounge and placed it in the cold water. Instantly chilled, he felt his body go numb, and woke to find himself in The Clearing. ooc - We don't have to wait for Moonrise.

ooc - Well, for Moonfalls, it doesn't need to be Moonrise for them to dream from StarClan. But ok, it's Moonrise!

Oakleaf slowly stood and looked around. No scent came to him and the clearing seemed empty until shimmering shapes appeared in front of Oakleaf. Frightened, Oakleaf crouched to the ground until he remembered that this was a dream for StarClan. He heard a faint chuckle and Oakleaf's head whipped around until he was face-to-face with the previous leader, Silverstar. Oakleaf gaped in astonishment and he felt happiness swell inside of him until he remembered Silverstar's tragic death. "Oakleaf, do not mourn me any longer. It is time to move on." murmured the silver she-cat staring into Oakleaf's eyes with her old humor. Now there was a special glimmer, she was a StarClan cat. The she-cat stepped back and a chorus of many cats, including Silverstar meowed out, "Welcome Oakleaf. Are you ready to receive your nine lives?" Oakleaf looked around before meowing out, "Yes, I'm ready." A lean tabby tom stepped up and smiled at Oakleaf. "Quailheart!" murmured Oakleaf in astonishment. The pale warrior did not reply as he meowed, "With this life I give you courage. Use it well in the defense of your Clan." Oakleaf felt bolts of pain. The feeling of hunting and battling and the great feeling of life swooped through him causing him to stagger back. Oakleaf's former best friend stepped back and was replaced with a petite she-cat with shocking blue eyes. Glitteringstream blinked warmly at Oakleaf before meowing, "With this life I give you justice. Use it well as you judge the actions of others." The pretty she-cat had been murdered by a group of rouges. A sharp pain coursed through his body along with the warmth of accomplishment. -C-

-C- Glitteringstream stepped back and a small black cat stepped forward. Robinpaw had been tempted to join a passing clan and abandon EarthClan. Before Robinpaw was murdered by that clan, he had apologized to Silverstar. Robinpaw looked at Oakleaf happiness in his new home. "With this life I give you loyalty to what you know to be right. Use it well to guide your Clan in times of trouble." meowed Robinpaw in a clear voice. Once again pain scorched through Oakleaf, though less than before he still fell backwards a bit. A pretty black she-cat apprentice stepped forward as Robinpaw stepped back. Mosspaw was Robinpaw's sister and was struck and killed by a two-leg monster. Her endless energy had promised her a happy life as a warrior but was too energetic at the wrong time. "With this life I give you tireless energy. Use it well to carry out the duties of a leader." she mewed, her energy alive once more in her eyes. A feeling of Oakleaf racing through the forest filled him up. This time a young she-cat stepped forward. Dappleheart had been murdered protecting her kits from foxes. "With this life I give you protection. Use it well to care for you Clan as a mother cares for her kits." she murmured. Ferocity burned through Oakleaf, shocking the tom. He had expected a better feeling. He staggered once more, and it took him everything he had to stand. He didn't know if he could stand it much longer. -C-

-C- Oakleaf's previous mentor, Foreststrike, approached Oakleaf. Killed by a rouge, the tom's last words were that Oakleaf would become leader. The previous warrior's mangled body had been healed and sparkled with stars. "With this life I give you mentoring. Use it well to train the young cats of your Clan." he meowed in his usual deep voice. Wisdom and a calming feeling in the form of pain burst into Oakleaf. He opened his eyes a crack in just enough time to see Foreststrike smile slightly and step back. Volewhisker, the former Medicine Cat, stepped forward and looked at Oakleaf, the wisdom still burning in his eyes. "With this life I give you compassion. Use it well for the elders of you Clan, and the sick, and all those weaker than yourself." he meowed. A warm glow burned inside him along with pain that made his chest ache. The next cat that stepped forward made Oakleaf's heart lurch and it seemed to jump to his throat. Tears formed in his eyes as Feathercloud stepped forward. The two had been in love and Oakleaf had been devastated when she had died from a mysterious sickness. Love burned in her eyes as she came closer. Oakleaf wanted to say a million things to her, but the pain kept him from doing so. "With this life I give you love. Use it well for all the cats in your care - especially Sageshade." Feathercloud nodded and Oakleaf knew she approved of his new found love for the pretty she-cat. A warm feeling flowed through Oakleaf, unlike the others, this had barely any pain and made Oakleaf close his eyes in comfort. When he opened his eyes he saw that Silverstar had replaced Feathercloud. "With this life I give you nobility and certainty and faith. Use it well as you lead your Clan in the ways of StarClan and the warrior code." meowed Silverstar, looking at Oakleaf proudly. This life's pain tore at every bone, muscle and limb. It racked his body and brain and Oakleaf opened his mouth to scream. No sound came out however and the pain gradually subsided. Silverstar flicked her tail indicating Oakleaf should stand. -C-

-C- Shakily, Oakleaf rose to his paws. Pain still coursed through his body though it had subsided greatly. He gazed at the nine cats he had known growing up and great sadness welled inside him as his gaze rested on Silverstar and Feathercloud. Silverstar opened her jaw and began to meow, "I hail you by your new name, Oakstar. Your old life is no more. You have now received the nine lives of a leader, and StarClan grants you the guardianship of EarthClan. Defend it well; care for young and old; honor your ancestors and the traditions of the warrior code; live each life with pride and dignity." Oakstar looked in awe as the hundred of StarClan cats began to chant his new name. Suddenly every cat stopped and Silverstar looked fearfully behind her shoulder. "Beware Oakstar. A great Death approaches." she meowed. Oakstar awoke and yowled for Oceanflower.

Oakstar stood shaking. He tried taking a few steps but staggered and fell in a heap at Oceanflower's paws. He shuddered and tried to stand again. He fell a bit but began to walk, taking small steps. "Come on. We've got to get home." he rasped.

Oakstar clenched his teeth as he meowed, "Let's go." Slowly he began to walk, staggering every few steps. He hadn't been prepared for all that pain.
